The call of the void.

The story says , my father's sister was killed by a fallen tree in the forest in the village. Rumours have it that, she heard a voice; It called, she followed to her doom. Growing up, we were taught not to answer a call from anyone whose voice we did not recognize because the moment we answered we would go and never return. Though I never understood it, I was terrified. I made sure I didn't answer a call until I knew who was calling. As I grew up, I realized I had an attraction to water despite almost drowning in a stream once. I would tell my friends the water called to me and the would laugh and called be mamiwater. But it's not just the water that calls, the earth calls too. Let me explain; I have an irrational fear of heights. However, it's not because I'm scared of falling, it's actually because I fear I might jump. The sea says 'come' and the ground says 'jump' over and over until it's silent call is broken. I recently learned all that is called "the call of the void". The urge to do something dangerous and uncharacteristic without meaning to., just like going into the woods when trees are being cut down because the woods call you, going deeper and deeper into the sea even though you can't swin, jumping from a height. But is it spiritual? Or are they just intrusive thoughts? We don't know, we might never know.
